A student of my mine is working on a thesis paper on the outsourcing of library services, particularly collection development activities. I’m looking to gauge opinions on the subject of outsourcing (any comments are appreciated) and thought that I’d pose the following questions to the list:
Does your library outsource collection development and to what degree?
What services does your library outsource?
How do you measure the success of your outsourcing plan?
Is there a contingency plan in place if the vendor fails to perform?
In determining a cost analysis, how did your library determine the costs of completing the tasks in question?
I will summarize accordingly. Feel free to reply to me at christinalipton@yahoo.com
Many thanks,
Christina Lipton
