Police statistics - missing persons etc

I am after UK or England and Wales statistics on the number of missing persons cases (not found and/or found)
investigated by the police.

I am also after a nationwide figure of the number of domestic disputes and public disorder cases attended by the
police.

The preferred period for both queries is 1994 till recent.I have tried the Home Office and the Audit commission
and I could not find what I wanted.

Anyone else have any clues??

Much appreciated.

There was something today I heard on the radio suggesting that a database be set up for this, because there is in fact little coordinated national information. I think this came out of some research just published -
see http://www.missing.persons.org/news.html for press release and research summary. This is a site run by the National Missing Persons Helpline Charity.

For the others, you've probably tried the Crime Statistics and Home Office Research?

In the US, my first line of offense would be emails or database searches at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which is the cental "police" that handles kidnappings and such. I'd also ask my local Chief of Police (well, the office of, anyway) and see what they know about sources.

I'd probably go after some unlikely candidates as well: National Safety Council for their insight (if any); and the Centers for Diseae Control and Prevention website to see if they had any info in their database.

As I said, that's in the US. We also have a national Missing Children's (association? Society?) group that would show up in my Yahoo database search for "Missing Children"+"statistics" ...

Then I'd swing by Gary Price's pages (my Favorite tag reads "Price's Perfect Pages") ... and slowly peruse what he might have found, say, among the UNESCO (etc.) reports and such.

I mention all this, in the hope that it'll spark some glimmer of meaning (and response) to you and/or others facing the same question. (I might also query national news organizations for their recent stories...!)

Do what I have just done: go to the Vivisimo search engine:
http://vivisimo.com
and search on +UK +"domestic violence" +statistics
You will find a wealth of information.

Hi,

Please could you e-mail me the most up to date police statistics you have on Lancashire police.

If possible I would like to know how many police officers there are per person in West Lancs but if this is not available how many there are per person in Lancs.
How does this compare to other districts and/or counties?

Is it also possible to send me some info on what the key probs in West Lancashire are and how this has differed to previous years?
Are Lancashire police planning any new schemes to solve these problems and how? Are there any meetings, forums etc coming up?

Many Thanks,

Hannah
