 non-delivery of email

could anyone shed any light on the following problem, please? I have a friend who uses AOL on his home computer (a Macintosh). Whenever I send him email to this address it never seems to reach him. I am absolutely sure I have the correct email address (sometimes, for example, I've used 'reply' when responding to messages I've received from him -- so communication is certainly possible in one direction). I have never received any notification that messages are 'bouncing'. This seems to apply to all messages I send to him: plain text, text with HTML, text with attachments.
