 web accessible 'hard drive'?

Does anyone know of a web service allowing me to save my own files (eg. MS Office files types) onto a web server so that i can access them over the web from anywhere? A kind of mobile hard disk sort of thing... I think I've heard of this kind of service before but I can't think how to find it again.

Even better, is there a software package that we can buy so that we can offer this same kind of (friendly) service to our users (saving the files into a db on our own web server)?

Does this make sense? I am at a loss to even find words to describe what I want - a remote portfolio manager? personal web-based hard drive?
