Like almost everyone I've got frustrated with call centres and particularly Touchtone Hell, music-on-hold-on-loop and the constant refrain of "We are experiencing unusually high call volumes".

I was wondering if there's a trade association (or perhaps a Free Pint-like website) where people from the Call Centre industry itself go to discuss these matters.

I discovered a Free Pint post here:
http://web.freepint.com/forum/bar/read.php?i=25776

... but it dates from 2003. This particular Free Pint Bar thread mentions The Call Centre Association, but even the CCA looks like something that'll defend its members' practices and isn't neutral or dispassionate.

On its home page today the CCA says: "PLEASE BEAR WITH US AS WE UPDATE OUR WEBSITE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE" Nuff said?

So where do the call centre people themselves go to blow whistles on their employers or discuss the facts?

Thanks for any guidance.

Andrew Denny

Sorry I can't help, but, tongue-in-cheek, suspect the employees from my bank will be discussing it on an Indian website!
