 CILIP membership

Dear Freepinters

My CILIP membership is due for renewal and I am debating whether to renew or not; being chartered is not essential to my current job, in fact my colleagues and managers don't even know what CILIP stands for, as far as they are concerned I am a researcher. I cannot see any present benefits, even though I have been paying my subscription for over 20 years. What do others think?
