 Compliance Research Initial Results

Data-gathering on the FreePint Compliance Research project continues, but initial results have already influenced our thinking about what matters to the knowledge workers tasked with maintaining regulatory compliance. If you have not yet completed the survey, please share your opinions anonymously now >>

Survey respondents to date tell us that they are most satisfied with the products available to them to comply with Know Your Customer, the Bribery Bill and FSA regulations. They are least satisfied with resources to help them with Basel II, the EU Data Protection Act and EU Directives.

Asked broadly about their opinion on compliance-related products, respondents give only middling marks for reliability and value. The figure shows their average ratings, on a scale of 1-4 for their agreement with statements about products. Although products may enable analysts to get at what they need, survey respondents clearly think products can do better on a number of measures.

Initial results on resources for compliance related work also demonstrate a contrast with other FreePint results on redundancies and budget changes. VIP's Economic Impact Research, published in September 2009, reported significant budget cuts for business information overall. In compliance, however, half of the respondents report no change in their budgets, and one-quarter report increases - many of more than 20%.

There's still time to participate in this anonymous survey. Provide an email address at the end to receive a free copy of the results -- useful for benchmarking, product awareness and professional development of knowledge workers on a business-critical topic.

This project has been generously sponsored by Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing, LexisNexis, Morningstar and Perfect Information.
