Hi, Emma.

If you are looking for an interesting new training package for library staff, you might like to consider a DVD called 'Reader Says Returned'. It's brand-new; due for release in a couple of weeks. How do I know? I am co-producer of the DVD. (This is a blatantly commercial message, but it is directly related to your enquiry, so I think I am allowed to post it. I hope so, anyway...)

'Reader Says Returned' is specifically about customer care in libraries. The main feature is a 23-minute film, performed by professional actors, depicting a series of encounters between library staff and their customers - with a quirky comic slant. The script writer worked in public libraries for years, so it's quite authentic, as well as being very funny (admittedly, I am biased). The DVD also includes supporting material, including a fully annotated transcript of the film. It's a versatile package; definitely suitable for non-professional staff.

If this sounds useful, e-mail me and I will send you details.

Regards,
Jon Taylor
