Articles, editorials and party policy documents abound on the importance to all of us of a thriving digital economy, especially during the continuing economic crisis in the western world. Investing in start-ups or existing ventures is the way of the future according to many analysts, especially as traditional industries continue their downward spiral.

So tracking trends, identifying "hot new" companies and learning about deals involving competitors from a reliable source has become essential to all those working in the digital sector.

Enter StrategyEye Digital Media, a cloud-based intelligence platform aimed at senior decision makers who need current information combined with analysis to make informed decisions about their next investments.

Reviewed in this month’s VIP Magazine, StrategyEye Digital Media is a news aggregator with a difference. It monitors all industries in the digital media value chain, from content production to distribution and access services. This means that companies and news relating to TV and film producers for example, their output, i.e. video or music and the way these are distributed, i.e. via social media or online business-to-business (B2B) services, are monitored all the way.

Aggregated web sources, consisting of trusted publications, expert blogs and industry reports are supplemented with analytical articles written by in-house editors. All this is presented in a structured layout, which is intuitive to use. I particularly liked the value-added aspects of the database, such as deal tables and sector analysis, the pre-packaged reports and the facility that allows you to search for investors in a particular industry.

Although aimed at the end-user, StrategyEye Digital Media’s sophisticated filtering facilities also make this a valuable tool for information professionals across a variety of industries.

In all, StrategyEye Digital Media is a cut above the common or garden news aggregator. Trial access is available here.
