Aileen Marshall reviews InfoMonitor, a turnkey service that creates custom competitive intelligence newsletters. The unique thing about InfoMonitor is that the software and search interface are not visible to the customer. Instead, based on the needs of the client, InfoDesk staff, comprised of experienced information professionals, creates and edits daily or weekly newsletters, summarising the latest news on any given topic for the organisation. This is a short version of a more detailed mini-review published in the FreePint Subscription.

Overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information every time you turn on your computer screen? InfoMonitor may just be one of the solutions you have been looking for, so you can lean back and have somebody else do (most of) the work for you, according to your preferences and needs.

Combining technology, experts from the greater information professional community and continuous client feedback, InfoDesk has developed a wholesome approach to separate the sheep from the goats. Its newest service, InfoMonitor, delivers custom CI briefs to customers, taking care  of some of the most critical factors for success: timeliness and consistency of content-neutral information, expert analysis and executive summaries for a quick “what’s hot today” overview to help an organisation to stay competitive and ahead of the game. InfoDesk staff custom creates InfoMonitor CI briefs on a daily or weekly basis for their customers, choosing from a large pool of sources such as major wire services, local and national newspapers, magazines and professional journals, trade press, government and association web sitesas well as reputable blogs, newsletters and Internet web sites. Customers can have InfoMonitor delivered to a SharePoint portal, via RSS, mobile devices, PDF, HTML/text email or Microsoft Word documents. With interactive rating buttons available for each news item, InfoMonitor briefs will continuously improve according the customer’s needs.
