"If possible, I like to do some consumer research before I buy any product, I check 'Which?' (the UK consumer association) when I'm buying a new washing machine or DVD player, and I view VIP in the same way when I'm considering data sources. VIP helped me and my team to draw up criteria [...]More »

From the introduction:
"Early October 2008 saw the return of a respected industry event in a new guise:
TFPL hosted ebic 2008 at Berlin's Kempinski Hotel Bristol, bringing together an
intriguing mix of senior-level information professionals, industry innovators,
knowledge and learning managers and other thought-leaders in the information
world. Both traditional and alternative information career pathways were
represented, and the two-day agenda gave the delegates opportunities to explore
issues in depth – everything from the workplace of the future to the role of
information in social action.
To report on the event, we chose an approach we first developed earlier in 2008, to
cover the SLA annual conference in Seattle, Washington: We went directly to
delegates, asking them to contribute what they felt was most important to them
about the experience. During and immediately following ebic, we provided
delegates with opportunities to comment, via a printed leaflet or online form, email,
voice mail or fax. We then organised and edited contributions for clarity, had them
approved by their authors, and pulled them together by topic and theme to reflect
back to delegates and the larger industry."
