It is easy to think that everything must be available online but this is far from being the case and offline research is still a vital methodology in an information professional's armoury. Talking face-to-face is important so that an info pro can ensure that they are asking the right question before searching, whether it be for a library user or a client, while talking on the phone may elicit information that is simply not available elsewhere. Indeed, the traditional type of social networking - chatting in a bar or club - still has its own role to play.
