FUMSI Report: Folio on Semantic Technology & Web 3.0 Developments
29th June 2010
The new Coalition government is already having an impact on the future of semantic technology with its cut in funding for the Web Science Institute, but the hope is that the opening up of government data will still continue. This will enable the combining of large datasets, the analysis and processing of the data, and the discovery of new meaning and patterns which are at the heart of semantic technology.
But what is the biggest bonus for information managers and users - the delivery of a personalised experience. Not only getting the right information but also, through the ability to mashup data, finding combinations of data not previously available.
